Responsible gaming at Stake

Gambling is entertainment for adults. Tanzania regulates it under the Gaming Act of 2003, and 18 is the minimum age. The tools below keep it entertainment.

In your account

The tools Stake gives you

Deposit limits cap how much you can add per day. Setting or lowering a limit takes effect immediately; raising or removing one carries a 24-hour cooling-off period, which is deliberate: the delay exists so a bad evening cannot undo a good decision. The pause protects you. Note that limits are configured in USD and apply to deposits only, not to wagers or losses.

Break in Play suspends your account for one day, one week or one month, whichever you choose. Self-exclusion is the heavier tool: an indefinite block with a minimum of six months, after which the account can be reviewed for return only through a formal process with support.

Honest check

Warning signs worth acting on

  • Chasing losses with bigger or more frequent bets
  • Betting money meant for rent, food or school fees
  • Hiding your play from family or friends
  • Feeling restless or irritable when not betting
  • Borrowing to gamble, or selling things to fund it

One honest framing helps: every game on Stake has a built-in house edge, so gambling is a paid form of entertainment, never an income plan. If the signs above feel familiar, use self-exclusion first and talk to someone you trust; the account will still be there in six months if you genuinely want it back.

Closing down

Closing your account for good

You can close your account at any time through live chat or by emailing support@stake.com. Closure is separate from self-exclusion and suits anyone who simply wants out; Stake also reserves the right to exclude accounts where gambling appears unsafe for the customer.

Before it ever reaches that point, Stake's budget calculator can translate your monthly disposable income into a sensible per-session figure, which is a far better starting point than guessing. If gambling stops feeling like a game, act early: set the limit today, not after the loss.

And if minors share your phone or computer, log out after every session and never let the browser save the password. Adults only. No exceptions.
